Another one bites the dust

I was liistening to the Wesley Snipes interview on the Tom Joyner Morning Show. I try not to judge others, especially not based on what's reported by the media. Let's just say his interview still has me in shock.
Yet, I really shouldn't be. When the Feds get you on conspiracy charges, due process and innocent until proven guilty are just phrases. My husband was convicted of conspiracy charges and once they put that on him, nothing he could do would change the fact that he was going to do a long time in prison. Don’t get me wrong, an individual should pay for the crime they commit. I believe the sentence should be fair and they should be allowed due process. I also believe the “any means necessary” tactic should not be employed to convict said individual. This includes taking sentences from other criminals and “convincing” coconspirators to testify against one another.

The same applies to Wesley. He was found guilty of misdemeanor charges that usually amount to probation. He’ll be doing 36 months in a federal prison. If what he stated during the interview was true, the jury pool of over 200 individuals didn't include not one African American, Mexican, artist, or actor. A man that he testified against in 1999 was the key witness for the prosecution. The other witnesses included employees of said individual. Wesley's situation sickens me and brings back a flood of memories and emotions. My heart goes out to both him and his family. I especially feel for his four children that will be away from their father for the next three years. He's supposed to surrender to the Bureau of Prisons in 32 hours. What a holiday season this will be for them. My heart is bleeding.
